Poundlandia, A.C. Bevan

FROM THE FOUNDING OF THE CITY, through suburban mock-revival, to the pastoral idyll of the countryside beyond, Poundlandia is a pilgrimage to the dark heart of modern-day Britain, taking the reader through a landscape of mythology & geography; nostalgia & modernity; poetry, nature & the arts; from the Neolithic to the post-Brexit Age, via the cultural wastes of late stage capitalism, where Romance meets harsh reality, & love & lore grim death, returning in the end to the old earth, to the land.

A. C. Bevan’s poems have appeared in many magazines, newspapers & anthologies in the UK, Europe & the US; the Science Museum website on National Poetry Day; as a poster on a Channel Island bus; & in an off, off, off–Broadway play. The author of five pamphlet collections to date (from Arc Publications & Rack Press among others),
this is his first full poetry collection. He lives in Bristol, England.
